Photocopying
The College pays for a license with Access Copyright that permits any student or staff member to make ONE copy of published print materials, for educational or research purposes, within the following limits:
- no more than 10% of a single work; or
- a complete single article, essay, short story, play, or poem from a book or periodical containing other works; or
- a complete single chapter that is no more than 20% of an entire work
- instructors may make an additional single copy under the license
Out of print works may be copied in their entirety, provided that you have confirmation in writing from the copyright owner that the work is indeed out of print.
Please note that not all published materials are covered by this license.

Photocopier Locations
Wherever possible, instructors are expected to use the photocopiers in their department for all copying needs.
In the Library at the Notre Dame Campus, there is a staff photocopier. It is located in the hallway near the door to the Library classroom. An input code is required each time you use it. Each department in the College has been assigned a unique code. The code is available from your Department Head or Coordinator.
Please note: this copier also serves as a networked printer for Library staff. Instructors may use this copier for library materials only.
Continuing Education instructors should use photocopying services provided by the Print and Graphic Centre located in DM-19 at the Notre Dame Campus and W-104 at the Princess Street Campus.
There are coin-operated photocopiers for general use in the libraries at both the Notre Dame and the Princess Street campuses.
Please report any problems with copiers in the Library to library staff at the Reference or Circulation Desk.
