Social Media Promotion for Guides:

Objectives:

use the following social media platforms to effectively promote the RRC Guides:

  • Facebook -- https://www.facebook.com/RedRiverLibrary
  • Instagram -- https://www.instagram.com/rrclibrary
  • Twitter -- https://twitter.com/rrclibrary

Challenges:

It's difficult to standardize across platforms as each has its own nature (i.e. twitter should sound spontaneous yet thoughtful; quippy and informative while Instagram is more visual and can provide longer captions.)

Guidelines for consideration:

Hashtags for Twitter and instagram

  • #librarylife #libguides #libraryhelp #resourceguide plus something about the topic: eg.#menshealth #movember
  • rarely use cross postings (take one thing and post the same content to all platforms)
  • for instagram: use instagram stories, take a snapshot of the guide as a background

Wording

  • ICYMI (in case you missed it) to showcase guides used regularly by programs
  • *NEW* for new guides, and
  • *UPDATED* where necessary (all caps and within asterisks)

Instagram (sample):                                                              Twitter (sample):
