Borrowing Policy

Eligibility to Borrow

  • All RRC students, Staff, and Continuing and Distance Education Instructors, both on and off campus
  • Alumni RRC Association members with a Premium Alumni card
  • Members of Project Management Institute (PMI)
  • RRC Board members
  • Heritage Club - Retired College staff
  • Manitoba citizens (fees will be applied)
  • Reciprocal members - Current students and staff of the University of Manitoba, University of Winnipeg, William and Catherine Booth College, Providence College,  Assiniboine Community College, and the University College of the North. A valid institution card is required.

Registration

In order to borrow materials, RRC students, staff and associate members must have a valid RRC photo I.D. card. Other borrowers are required to fill in a Patron Association Form and have current identification.  A borrowing card will be issued. 

Please note: Patrons who are not current RRC students or staff have limited access to library materials and services; books and journals only may be borrowed.

Loan Periods

  • Books - 28 days
  • Journals - 1 week (except for the current issue which does not circulate)
  • DVDs (Circulating) - 7 days
  • Reserve items - varies from 2 hours to 7 days
  • Interlibrary loan materials - Varies. Determined by the library

Overdues

Library borrowers are responsible for any loss or damage to materials borrowed on their card.

Failure to return items or to pay replacement costs for lost items will result in suspension of library privileges. Marks, certificates and transcripts will be withheld by the Registrar until Library accounts are settled.

Late fines are charged only for reserve items, recalled items, interlibrary loans and items on 24 hour loan. See the rates below.

Fines (per item)

  • Overdue Reserve (2 hour loan)................................$5.00 per hour
  • Overdue Reserve (24 hour).......................................$1.00 per hour
  • Overdue Reserve (3 or 7 day loan)....................$5.00 per day
  • Overdue requested items..............................$1.00 per day
  • Overdue Interlibrary loan materials..........................$5.00 per day

Renewals

Renewals are allowed for all materials provided there is no hold on the item. Reserve items cannot be renewed. Renewals may not be available for material received on interlibrary loan.

Holds

A hold may be placed on an item that is out on loan. You will be contacted when the item becomes available.

Privacy

To protect the privacy rights of Library users, information regarding individual borrowers may not be disclosed.
