In order to protect and enhance our children, to promote their safety and their healthy growth and development, we are committed to providing Canadians with the very best in early learning and child care knowledge and best practices. Our tools are research and knowledge dissemination, the creation and nurturing of active networks.

The Portal is designed to provide child welfare professionals, researchers, and the general public with a single point of access to Canadian child welfare research, i.e. research on abused and neglected children and on the programs and policies developed to support and protect these children and to support their families. It includes a searchable data base of Canadian research publications, a database of Canadian researchers, and information and statistics about provincial, territorial, aboriginal and national child welfare policies, legislation and programs.

The Center on the Developing Child supports scientific research that can inform the testing, implementation, and refinement of strategies designed to achieve significantly better life outcomes for children facing adversity. The Resource Center provides free access to a variety of reports and multimedia.

The First Nations Child & Family Caring Society of Canada was developed at a national meeting of First Nations Child and Family Service agencies in 1998. Meeting delegates agreed that a national non-profit organization was required to provide research, policy, professional development and networking support to support FNCFSA in caring for First Nations children, youth and families.

Healthy Child Manitoba (HCM) is the Government of Manitoba’s long-term, cross-departmental strategy for putting children and families first. With its community partners, the Province of Manitoba, has developed a network of supports and strategies for children, youth and families.

The Early Learning and Child Care Program oversees licensed early learning and child care in the province. Manitoba is committed to the well-being of children and their families by supporting the provision of quality, licensed, play-based early learning and child care (ELCC) programs for children from 12 weeks to 12 years of age.

Provides leadership and support to in the area of early learning for children up to age 8 years. Through a collaborative approach, the unit partners with school divisions, other government departments (provincial, federal), Early Learning and Child Care, educational stakeholder groups, and parents to promote developmentally appropriate programming and services that help to prepare children for successful school entry and optimal learning in the early years.
