Choosing Search Terms

Context foreword:
RRC Polytech Library uses Library of Congress Subject Headings. By using only one word or phrase for a subject, subject headings provide a controlled vocabulary that reduces the use of synonyms, therefore narrowing the places a library user goes looking for something, allowing users to find information more easily.
Some subject headings still in use can be viewed as problematic or hurtful, using outdated terms or offensive terminology. This is an ongoing process. Link>> Wikipedia, Library of Congress Subject Headings: Criticism
