National Research Council Building Codes (Database Instruction): Home

Red River College has obtained access to National Research Council Code documents, including the National Building Code of Canada, National Fire Code of Canada, and National Plumbing Code of Canada.

Note: The vendor has restricted the files to on-campus usage only. 

Access Canadian Codes via the NRC Virtual Store

1. Go to NRC Virtual store https://nrc.canada.ca/en/research-development/products-services/shop-nrc
2. Scroll down to click the online collection of Codes Canada publications link
3. Browse through the 50 available documents, or
   Use the filters on the right to find the correct code
4. Click on the title of the code for more information 
5. Click on View Final Version, to view the PDF

If your workstation is defaulted to load PDF documents in a browser window, you may see the error "Failed to load PDF document".

1. Go to your "Downloads" folder.
2. Right-click on the downloaded PDF file.
3. Select Open with ADOBE ACROBAT.
