Research Help: For Students

Information Desk and LibChat online chat services

Reference

Library staff from the Information & Program Delivery department provide reference services to students.  We will:

  • Provide in-person assistance at the Library Information Desk
  • Provide synchronous assistance via our LibChat online chat service

Reference Service includes assistance:

  • Using the Library, and instruction on our OneSearch database to find ebooks, print books, articles, statistics, videos, etc. to support your course work
  • Determining appropriate databases to find information, and providing assistance accessing and using those databases
  • Locating authoritative websites for information
  • Answering short questions (directions, addresses, phone numbers, etc.)

Appointment-Based Research Help

Sometimes you may need more research help than we can quickly provide in-person or through Chat.  In this case, we can set up an appointment via MSTeams or WebEx to assist you.  We can screen-share and walk you through using our Databases, look at your assignment requirements, and more.  Contact us in LibChat to set up a session, or email us at Library@rrc.ca

Digitization Requests

If you need print material from the Library that is not readily available in a digital format, you may ask us to digitize section and send it to you. Scanned copies of the material are sent as PDFs to you via email. We cannot scan an entire book or journal, but may be able to send small sections.  Please view our page on Digitization Request for more information and the request form.

Inter-Library Loan

Inter-Library Loan is an arrangement between libraries to share resources to users at another library. We will try to borrow material that we do not have in our library from another library that does.  This could include books, articles and more.  Please see our Inter-Library Loan (ILL) page for full information and the ILL request form.
