For very beginners of the tech program who are going through their first cataloguing class, this book is a good place to start. It shares a good extent of terminology so you can make sense of a bibliographic record to an OPAC, or the difference between a serial and a series. Covers LC, Sears, Dewey, cutter numbers, and more. Each chapter ends with review question exercises for your practice needs.

If you've developed a love for cataloguing that has manifested a desire for further reading and a larger, heavier book, this is the book for you. Still an introductory book, it goes further into RDA rules, MARC format, different classification systems and subject headings, as a start.

LC Catalog
The Library of Congress online catalog allows you to search for materials within their database and view their MARC records. From this page you can also access their LC Authorities tab to search for acceptable subject headings.
MARC 21 Classification
The MARC website offers a classification section that breaks down the different data fields from Leaders to Control Fields and so on. Learn which information goes under which field number and how to display it.
Voila!
Voila is the National Union Catalogue of Canada, collecting materials from libraries across the country, including all holdings from the previous AMICUS. This website can be helpful in your search for material holdings and copy cataloguing or subject heading ideas.
