Academic Supports for Students with Disabilities

Accessibility Tutoring Services

Academic Supports for Students with DisabilitiesIf you are a student with a disability and need education-related support such as tutoring or academic coaching services, the Academic Success Centre (ASC) has a diverse team ready to support you!

The ASC can provide up to 8 hours of tutoring and/or up to 4 academic coaching sessions per term with an assigned ASC staff tutor when referred by an Accessibility Specialist.

To request a referral for accessibility tutoring services, follow these steps:

Accessibility Services Tutoring Referral Process

  1. Book an appointment with Accessibility Services to discuss your academic support plan. Click here to book an appointment.
  2. Meet with an Accessibility Specialist to discuss support options. If you qualify for tutoring support through Manitoba Student Aid, or other agency, your Accessibility Specialist can assist you in completing the required documentation to access these services from the ASC.
  3. Your Accessibility Specialist will submit a tutoring referral to the Academic Success Centre on your behalf. You will receive a confirmation email with instructions and next steps, once the referral has been submitted to the ASC.
  4. The Academic Success Centre will review your referral and assign a tutor to work with you, if available. If we have a tutor for your course, you will receive a follow up email containing your assigned tutor's contact information and instructions to arrange a meeting schedule.

Students who are referred to the Academic Success Centre from Accessibility Services may access up to 8 hours of free tutoring and/or up to 4 hours of academic coaching with an assigned tutor, immediately.

Additional tutoring hours can be provided on a fee for services basis when funded through the Canada Student Grant for Services and Equipment – Students with Disabilities, or other approved disability support agency. To determine if funded tutoring is an option for you, speak to your Accessibility Specialist about eleigibility requirements and how to access additional tutoring sessions with an assigned ASC tutor..
