Welcome to the English Language Centre! Here you will find information about supports for students whose first language is not English.
Our staff are trained to work with students to develop confidence and competence with the language skills needed for success in their program, coop, and industry. We offer Ongoing Tutoring to help improve your reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills, using program-specific material and assignments. We also offer Short-Term Tutoring for more immediate language support needs. Information on workshops and self-study resources is also provided in this section.

Joining the EAL program changed me a lot in this term as well. For me as a typical introvert, I never join activity or talk to people actively. Actually, I heard about this program in the first term, I could finally step forward to join the program in this term. It was a big challenge for me to talk with a person in English for half an hour per week. I felt nervous at the beginning. Apart from the language skill I learned in this program, the most important thing I gained was that I am more confident in speaking English now. I understand I still cannot express my idea clearly sometimes, but I started to lead meetings and be involved in discussions of my group assignments recently.
