Introduction

The sources of information about a community are varied, and communities are often inconsistently represented depending on their size, composition, and other factors. Below are several resources that may help you find information about Manitoba communities. Often, the best source of information, particularly for small communities, is to go to the community and speak to the people.

Some sites may need an account or subscription to access full content. Always cross-check information provided on the internet for accuracy and reliability.

PLEASE NOTE: Some of the links below are pointed at a particular community as an example; use the search function within that specific webpage to search for other communities. For instance, TownFolio displays the page for St. Clements, but if you use the search, you can find Steinbach and other rural areas.

TownFolio
Townfolio provides city data as a service. Originally focusing on economic development software. Townfolio has evolved into a platform to: automate the community profile, provide city benchmarks and comparisons, along with completely customizable dashboards for city planning or city performance. (NOTE: St. Clements is just an example, use the search to locate others)

AreaVibes (Manitoba)
AreaVibes helps you find the best places to live in the United States and Canada. This is accomplished by creating a Livability Score out of 100 for any city, neighborhood, address or zip/postal code that you can think of. The Livability Score is created from a proprietary algorithm that evaluates multiple different data points for each location, including: amenities, commute, cost of living, crime rates, employment, health & safety, housing, schools and user ratings. The higher the score, the better the area (in our opinion).
Economic Development Winnipeg
Economic Development Winnipeg Inc. (EDW) is the city’s lead economic development agency and champion for local growth. Manitoba Bureau of Statistics
The Manitoba Bureau of Statistics (MBS) is a branch within the Finance Policy and Legislation Division with the Department of Finance. The MBS is the government’s central statistics agency, responsible for the compilation, management, analysis, coordination and dissemination of economic, demographic and social statistics for the province of Manitoba. Operating under the terms of the Manitoba Statistics Act, MBS collaborates with departments and agencies to address data and statistical requirements.
