Manitoba Collaborative Data Portal (MBCDP) - Transporation and Urban Design. Urban design has broad impacts on the built environment, including transportation options. This portal will focus on sustainable and active transportation i.e., public transit, walking, and cycling. This portal includes interactive tools and reports.

General

Access to transportation will vary with the characteristics of the target group. Some considerations are:

Are the services an individual needs easily accessible by bus?
Is the individual able to walk to the nearest bus stop?
Is the individual eligible for a subsidized taxi or other transportation?
Do local volunteer groups provide rides to elderly or handicapped people?
Are free bus or van rides available to seniors' home residents for trips to grocery stores?

The census provides data on "Mode of transportation to work", but this probably has limited relevance to health issues of target groups.
