ASC: Supports for Faculty and Staff- Writing Centre

Writing Centre Mission Statement

The Writing Centre is a full-time, student-centred space to support all Red Red River College Polytechnic students, regardless of background or ability, by facilitating the process to become better writers. At the Writing Centre, our role is not to “fix” a student’s writing, but rather to foster personal and academic self-confidence through the writing process. Writing is a community endeavour, and by acting as tutors, first readers, and peers, we can help students develop the tools they need to be successful and independent writers.

We provide one-on-one consultations, writing resources, and in-class workshops in a welcoming and inclusive environment. Students are encouraged to come to the Writing Centre at any stage in their writing and academic journeys. Writing Centre staff can work with students from any program on any piece of writing or work to enhance their general writing skills.

The Writing Centre offers support to Red River College Polytechnic faculty members through open communication and collaboration. Together, we can promote academic success by using integrated supports, in-class workshops, and student referral pathways.

We continuously aim to establish relationships and collaborate with stakeholders to assess current needs and determine future directions.
