Writing Centre – How Students Book an Appointment

Students can book up to two 30-minute online appointments with a staff writing tutor per week. 

How to book an online appointment with a Writing Tutor:

  1. Go to https://success.rrc.ca and log in using your college username and password.
  2. Next, go to the Schedule an appointment with the Academic Success Centre widget.
  3. Choose Find first available immediately.
  4. In the Choose a subject dropdown menu, select your course.
  5. In the Choose a service / reason dropdown menu, select Academic Writing Support.
  6. Select the option that best fits your tutoring needs and click Search.
  7. Click the appointment slot you wish to book, and complete the form as instructed and Confirm the appointment. 
  8. If you wish to upload a document, you can add a document after you confirm by clicking on the Documents tab.
  9. You will immediately receive an appointment confirmation email in your college student email inbox along with instructions on how to connect with your tutor for the online appointment.

Meeting Your Tutor Online

How to meet with your writing tutor:

  1. On the day of your appointment, return to https://success.rrc.ca shortly before your meeting time.

  2. Your Appointments for the day will be listed on your student dashboard.

  3. When your meeting link becomes active, the appointment box will update to show the message  - ‘Your online session is available’, and an ‘Arrow’ icon will appear.

  4. Click he ‘Arrow’ to connect to the online meeting location set up for the meeting.  

  5. Alternatively, you can open the appointment editor, by clicking the ‘Notepad’ icon and access a meeting link from there.

If you attempt to join a scheduled meeting before the start time, you will be notified how long you need to wait for your link to become available.


If the tutor is not yet available, or is in another WebEx meeting, you will see a message letting you know to wait. There is also an option to send a notification to the tutor letting him or her know that you have arrived and are waiting. If the tutor does not start the Webex meeting after the scheduled time, send them an email and copy writing@rrc.ca and either the tutor or an ASC staff person will assist.

Adding Documents to an Appointment

How to add documents to your appointment:

After saving the appointment, the ‘Documents’ tab will appear. To add a document to your appointment…

  • Click the ‘Documents’ tab, then click ‘+ New’.  This will open a document window.
  • Click ‘Browse’ to locate the file on your computer.
  • Keep ‘Type’ set to ‘Student Document’
  • Describe your document in the ‘Notes’, then click ‘SAVE’.
  • You will immediately receive an email confirming that your document has been uploaded, and your document will be listed in the appointment
