Technology Literacy (Learn Module)

The Technology Literacy module is a self-directed tutorial designed for students that provides basic skill development for using College-approved applications, including LEARN, HUB, Webex, MS Teams, and Office 365. The goal of this tutorial is to develop the foundational technology-related skills students need to participate in online learning experiences offered through Red River College Polytechnic. The module also features best practices and tips for using these collaborative apps.

This module includes a “Technical Support at RRC” section which lists units within the College that provide technical troubleshooting support to students including ITS Service Desk and LEARN Support. This page details what the ITS Service Desk is, the kinds of technical issues the ITS Service Desk is for, and how students can request help though the ITS Service Desk.

Module Details

Learning Outcomes

• Identify and engage with the options for technology literacy skill development and technical support available at RRC
• Locate HUB online, log into personal HUB, and understand the basic functions of this tool
• Log into LEARN account, locate courses, and navigate through course news, content, discussion boards, assessments, and dropbox features
• Understand the basic utility of Webex, how to schedule and/or join a meeting through Webex homepage or a meeting request, and how to participate within a Webex meeting by (1) chatting, (2) turning on video and mic, and (3) sharing files.
• Understand the basic utility of MS Teams, how to schedule and/or join a meeting through a meeting request, and how to participate within a MS Teams meeting by (1) chatting, (2) turning on video and mic, and (3) sharing files.
• Understand core features of applications within Office 365, and develop the skills to use these applications in a basic capacity

Each section of the Technology Literacy module presents the content through instructional videos and screenshots developed by Red River College Polytechnic staff. Videos from LinkedIn Learning and the companies that have developed the applications, also complement the content of the module. The module also includes links to additional resources in the College website.
