Use the Library

Study Spaces and Computers

We have two physical Library locations. Which campus would you like to visit? Please choose a tab below:

Notre Dame Campus Library

Notre Dame Campus Library

For current opening days and times please refer to our Library Hours page.

Study Space

Study tables – some with ethernet connections – are available throughout the Library. The Library is divided into two types of study area, Group Use Area and Quiet Study Area.

Attending Remote Classes While on Campus

While on campus, students can participate in online classes by logging onto Learn.rrc.ca using a WiFi enabled laptop, tablet or mobile device. The device used must be capable of running Chrome, Safari or Internet Explorer. Please ensure that your device is charged and ready prior to your class, as power outlets are not available in all study spaces.

The Group Study Area of the Library is a great place to use your own device. Students are encouraged to use headphones while listening to computer audio in all Library shared spaces. Note: headphones must be used while participating in any online classes anywhere on campus.

Students who do not have access to a WIFI enabled device and need to participate in online classes while on campus can visit the Library and use a desktop computer.

Though the Library computers do not have headphones, mics, or webcams, these items can be borrowed from the Library separately:

Webcams
Students can borrow webcams from the Library for use with a personal device, or a Library computer.

Headphones
Students must use headphones while on campus and participating in an online class. Headphones can be borrowed from the Library or purchased through the campus bookstore if required.

Group Study Area

There are numerous tables in the Group Study Area on the north side of the Library. If you need to work in a group and discuss what you are doing with others, please use this side of the Library. You will also find wall-mounted whiteboards, useful for group work and tutoring sessions. Whiteboard markers and erasers may be signed out at the Circulation Desk.

Several Breakout Rooms (small group study rooms) are located on the South group study side of the Library.

Quiet Study Area and Laptop/Study Carrels

The south side of the Library is designated an individual quiet study area. If noise is creating a disturbance in the Quiet Study Area, notify Information Desk staff who will see if it can be alleviated. Some carrels on the Quiet Study side of the Library are equipped with power bars for laptops and mobile devices.
