RRC Resources

Counselling (for students)
We are here to help students work through personal struggles, develop skills to manage better, and enjoy their college experience. We provide a range of services to support your wellbeing and success at RRC.
Elders-in-Residence
Our Elders-in-Residence are here to support education through Indigenous ways of teaching, learning and leading. They play an important role in student and staff health, wellness, and cultural and spiritual development. They are here to support all students and staff at Red River College. Located in the Indigenous Student Support Centres at the Notre Dame and Exchange District Campuses, Elders-in-Residence offer cultural teaching sessions, one-on-one appointments, classroom visits and lead ceremonies.
Healthy Minds, Healthy College
Through the Healthy Minds Healthy College Initiative, Red River College is working to be a supportive and healthy place to learn and work. Good mental health helps us live the life we want and contribute to a community, while reaching academic and career goals.

REES offers online reporting for sexual violence, with access to information about the reporting processes, community resources, post-secondary policies and supports. You don't have to make any choices today about reporting. When you create a Record with REES, only you can access it until you choose if and when to share it and with whom.

Ka Ni Kanichihk is a trusted heart of Winnipeg’s Indigenous community. Our vision is to lead our people back home to a place where we are self-determining, healthy, happy, and respected for our cultural and spiritual strengths and ways of being.
Klinic
Klinic Community Health Centre is located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. We are a non-profit, charitable organization. We provide a full range of services including primary health care, counselling, and education.
Manitoba Justice - Victim Services
Manitoba Justice Victim Services supports victims of serious crimes, as outlined in The Victims’ Bill of Rights. This includes victims of domestic violence and other serious crimes, such as murders and sexual assaults. Victim Services also provides support to child victims, witnesses, and families of murdered and missing Indigenous persons. Victim Services offers support to all individuals under the Canadian Victims Bill of Rights.

Sexual Assault Centres
If you have experienced sexual violence you are not alone and there is help available. Across Canada there are sexual assault services that can provide information, advocacy, and counselling. Locate resources in your community.
Survivor’s Hope Crisis Centre Inc. (Pinawa, Beausejour, Selkirk, Pine Falls)
We provide emotional support, information on options, referrals, and support services for survivors and victims of sexual assault of any sex, gender, or background who are 16 and older. You can connect with a worker 24/7 through local RCMP and hospitals.
Use the Right Words (Media Guide)
Mainstream media has the power to shape conversations about violence in our communities. News stories about sexual violence affect the way we think about it. This tool was created in recognition of the power media has in shaping understandings of sexual violence, and to support those who work in the media as they navigate covering sexual violence. Use the Right Words provides the language and frameworks required to report on sexual violence in ways that do not shame or blame survivors.
Women's Resource Centre (Brandon)
The Women’s Resource Centre is a non-profit organization that provides a range of programs and services for women and their families in South Western Manitoba. Demand for services provided by The Women’s Resource Centre is extremely high in Westman, and numerous agencies in the community, including Victim Services, Child and Family Services, Dakota Ojibway Child and Family Services, Employment and Income Social Assistance, and Community Mental Health work with the Women’s Resource Centre to ensure that the needs of women and children in the community are met.

Canadian Centre for Male Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse (cc4ms) was established to provide treatment, support & assistance to adult male survivors through healing, education, advocacy & research.
Draw the Line (Ontario)
'Draw The Line' is an interactive campaign that aims to engage Ontarians in a dialogue about sexual violence. The campaign challenges common myths about sexual violence and equips bystanders with information on how to intervene safely and effectively.
The Facts About Sexual Assault and Harassment (CWF)
Sexual assault and harassment are persistent forms of gender-based violence that are rooted in gender inequality.
In fact, sexual assault is the only violent crime in Canada that is not declining. Its impact goes far beyond survivors; dealing with the aftermath of sexual assault costs Canadians billions of dollars every year.
Men and Sexual Assault (AASAS)
If you don't believe it's possible to sexually abuse or assault a guy, raise your hand. If your hand is waving in the air, you're not alone. But boy, are you wrong. Most research suggests that 10 to 20 per cent of all males will experience some form of sexual abuse or sexual assault at some point in their lives. That translates into thousands of Canadian boys and men being abused each year.
Workplace Sexual Harassment Project (CLEA)
CLEA (Community Legal Educational Association) has set up a Workplace Sexual Harassment Hotline for Manitoba. The Hotline is staffed by a staff lawyer who can provide legal information and advice, make appropriate referrals to agencies, print and other resources. In appropriate circumstances, the staff lawyer can refer the client to a lawyer on CLEA’s lawyer referral panel for representation. This project is funded by Justice Canada.

NSVRC & Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM)
The National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC) is the leading nonprofit in providing information and tools to prevent and respond to sexual violence. Every April, NSVRC leads Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), a campaign to educate and engage the public in addressing this widespread issue.
RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network)
RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) is the nation's largest anti-sexual violence organization. RAINN created and operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline (800.656.HOPE) in partnership with more than 1,000 local sexual assault service providers across the country. RAINN also carries out programs to prevent sexual violence, help survivors, and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.
Sexual Assault of Men and Boys (RAINN)
Sexual assault can happen to anyone, no matter your age, sexual orientation, or gender identity. Men and boys who have been sexually assaulted or abused may have many of the same feelings and reactions as other survivors of sexual assault, but they may also face some additional challenges because of social attitudes and stereotypes about men and masculinity.
Victims of Sexual Violence: Statistics (RAINN)
Sexual violence is notoriously difficult to measure, and there is no single source of data that provides a complete picture of the crime. On RAINN’s website, we have tried to select the most reliable source of statistics for each topic. The primary data source we use is the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS), which is an annual study conducted by the Justice Department.

"You can't understand another person's experience until you've walked a mile in their shoes." To get people listening, learning, and talking, Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® education Events organize around men literally walking one mile in women's high-heeled shoes. It's not easy walking in these shoes, but it's an experience around which a lot of education, self-reflection, and change happens....
Why Denim? | Denim Day
For the past 21 years, Peace Over Violence has run its Denim Day campaign on a Wednesday in April in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The campaign began after a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court where a rape conviction was overturned because the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped the person who raped her remove her jeans, thereby implying consent.
