RefWorks (Software Instruction)

RefWorks online software simplifies the process of research, collaboration, data organization, and writing by providing an easy-to-use tool for citation, bibliography, and reference management. Learn how to build a collection of references.

Add reference from PDF (Upload file OR Drag & Drop)

References can be uploaded in Word or PDF format in a couple of ways. RefWorks will locate the metadata in the document to generate the citation. NOTE: these types of references almost always need further editing, depending on the type of document. See: Editing references.

 

Upload Document

1. Click the "Add a Reference" button on the top (horizontal) toolbar.

2. From the drop-down select "Upload Document".

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

3. Use the browse feature to find and select the document.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

4. The new reference will be added to the list.
    You can see new imports under "Last imported" and
    default folder location "Not in Folder" 

 

 

 

Drag'n Drop

1. Find your document (in a folder or on your desktop)

2. Click and drag it to the middle of the RefWorks screen - you should be prompted where to release it

3. The new reference will be added to the list.
    You can see new imports under "Last imported"
     and default folder location "Not in Folder"
